DANIEL NICHOLS was born June 01, 1768 in North Carolina, and died after 1850 the census
in Tennessee. He married MARY ALEXANDER June 19, 1790 in Madison Co., Kentucky,
daughter of UNKNOWN ALEXANDER. She was born September 26, 1770 in North
Carolina and died in Rutherford Co., Tennessee.Their burial location is
unknown. There were seven (7) or eight (8) children born to this marriage.
It appears that the source of most people information on Daniel Nichols
starts with a note post by Tricia Hardy, Nov. 21, 1998 or they received
the information from someone that got the information from the same note.
That was my case as well. I going to use that note as the base and build,
correct, guess, etc. In my data base you will find ancestors of Daniel
Nichols listed. That information was also from the Hardy's note and is
being researched at this time.
* Daniel Nichols born June 1, 1768 in North Carolina, died in Maury Co.,
Tennessee.
Died in Maury Co., Tennessee is questionable because in the 1850 Census
for Rutherford Co., He and Mary are living with his youngest son Bryan.
He would have been 82 years old at the time of the census. I just don't
think a 82 year old person would be traveling in 1850 very much. I think
he died in Rutherford Co.
* Daniel Nichols married Mary Alexander, born Sept. 26, 1770 in North Carolina,
died in Rutherford Co., Tennessee.
There is a Daniel Nichols that married a Mary Alexander on June 19, 1790 recorded in Madison Co., Kentucky. Some books listed it as Nicholson and Nicholas. Have not found any tax record or old census yet for him there. From Madison Co., they moved to Logan Co., Kentucky. This is based on some of the children are listed as been born in Logan Co., Kentucky.

Patsy who married Crawford is questionable. I think what the note mean
to read Levi Alexander married a Patsy Crawford. Record in Maury Co. show
Levi marring a Patsy (Rachel) Crawford in 1830. The 1820 census list 5
females. There is research on going now to where there was a daughter name
Patsy/Martha.
The birth location for a number of children really does not match if you
accept the fact Daniel and Mary married in Kentucky then moved to Tennessee.
I would think Sally, William, Ester, Eli, Levi, were born in Kentucky and
Daniel in Tennessee. The order of the listing of children is in correct
order of age other than Daniel Bryon is younger than Margaret based on
information found so far in census, etc.
Gerald Tudor of Madison Co., Kentucky Note August, 2003:
There is a Daniel Nichols in the Madison Co., KY Court Order Books A & B. Each entry involves a suit brought be one John Leveridge which continues from April 1791 until finally dismissed in Sep. 1791. Each party was required to pay certain witnesses and Daniel is no longer listed in Court Order Book B which ran through the date of July 1800. A Dave Nichols was involved with the same suit. From this, it would appear that Daniel and Mary left for Logan Co. in the same year that the suit was dismissed.
